A Time Period Full of Conflict
Authors Note: This piece is about the main conflict in the book April Morning.
Growing up in the 1700’s was hard at any age, especially late teens. Why, because you have to learn to grow up, become a real man or woman and learn to survive without parental guidance. But when you have a war that may or may not arise, even more conflicts can emerge. In the story, April Morning you can come to understand that a battle of in the Revolutionary War isn’t the main conflict in the book.

The conflict between Moses (Dad) and Adam (son) was one that was the real main conflict other than the war. The reason these two always but heads about most topic is because of a lack of communication. This is why they usually have these arguments and why it is one of the main conflicts in the story. Also they have different opinions about things as well. Adam thinks that he should be given more privileges and more respect while Moses thinks that he should still be treated like a child.

While the conflict between him and his father is important in the overall story, what kinds of conflicts happen are needed to be spoken of too. There are two types of conflict in this story, Person vs. Person, which is throughout the book and Person vs. Society which in turn is Adam and the British. A reason I can understand why it is P vs. P is because it is Adam versus his father because they argue about many things and don’t agree on hardly any of them. A reason why it is P vs. S is because Adam goes to war (with the militia) against Britain which is the Society.

It is easy to see that the Battle in April Morning isn’t the only conflict in the story. Reasons for that is because there is the conflict between him and his father and P vs. P and P vs. S.
